Nanna Abell, Søren Assenholt, Kasper Hesselbjerg, Judith Hopf (DE), Christian Bang Jensen, Billie Maya Johansen, Johanna Kintner (DE), Aniara Omann og Anne Mette Schultz

Press Release:
Transformations
A group exhibition with international contemporary artists in Art Space ULYS at Odense Harbor and an event program on transformation
Opening party: May 12, 5 PM – 9 PM
Exhibition period: May 12 – June 15th, 2017
A project about change as a process
One year ago the curators Billie Maya Johansen and Katrine Bruun Jørgensen began an exhibition project focusing on the theme transformation in contemporary art. Art Space ULYS was open to the curatorial concept, and the framework was thus set for a group exhibition in the fantastic industrial space at Odense Harbor. The exhibition has been tailored specifically for Odense, which is in the midst of a profound change. The theme of the exhibition was chosen with reference to Odense Municipality’s aspiration of a transformation from a provincial town to a big city.

Nine international artists
The exhibition shows works by nine Danish and German contemporary artists who contribute with different approaches to what a transformation can be driven by, and how art can visualize change. The artists work with the theme of transformation in different ways and demonstrate the diversity of change: one work thematise the signification of objects, another technology in a modern society, and a third fashion and hybrid phenomena.
The exhibiting artists are: Nanna Abell, Søren Assenholt, Kasper Hesselbjerg, Judith Hopf (DE), Christian Bang Jensen, Billie Maya Johansen, Johanna Kintner (DE), Aniara Omann and Anne Mette Schultz
Several of the artists have studied at the Funen Art Academy in Odense.
An event program
In conjunction with the exhibition, the curators launch an event program that contributes with new approaches to discussing the exhibition and the theme. The event program includes the exhibition opening, an art video screening, an electronic concert with the artist Claus Haxholm, an artist talk, and a guided tour of the exhibition by the curators.

About the curators and Art Space ULYS
